The role
we are seeking a highly skilled senior sql server database administrator to join our dynamic team. This full-time, remote position is a critical part of our follow-the-sun support model, ensuring the highest levels of availability, reliability, and performance for our sql server infrastructure. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with a multicultural team, and play a pivotal role in maintaining and evolving our database systems.
What you’ll do
- maintain high availability and reliability of the sql server infrastructure.
- participate in the follow-the-sun support model.
- build and implement new database infrastructure.
- attend incident calls as per slas.
- enforce and uphold security and compliance policies.
- ensure adherence to backup and recovery policies.
- document legacy processes for improved clarity and efficiency.
- coach junior dbas to enhance their technical skills.
- collaborate with other teams to discuss and optimize the underlying database infrastructure.
Scope:
tools and technologies:
- sql server 2017+, always on, transactional replication, query store, log shipping.
- powershell, dbatools, basic windows administration, and an understanding of storage infrastructure.
What you’ll bring
experience:
- 7+ years in highly available sql server environments, working across virtual and physical infrastructures.
- proven ability to automate repetitive tasks using powershell or other scripting tools.
Education:
bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Certifications:
microsoft certifications are a plus.
Soft skills:
- self-learner with a high level of initiative.
- strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
- exceptional adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for working in a multicultural team.
Preferred knowledge:
- experience in manufacturing industries is a bonus.
- development background to facilitate smooth communication with developers.
