Unlike traditional corporate retail roles where buying cycles are planned up to a year in advance, our business thrives on Opportunistic Buying. In this role, you will act as a true "Treasure Hunter"—navigating the market to identify brand-name closeouts, overstocks, and surplus inventory, making fast-paced decisions to bring incredible fashion and value directly to our global consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Market Hunting: Scour the domestic and international markets to identify, evaluate, and execute "Opportunistic Buys" from top-tier brands.
* Masterful Negotiation: Leverage your commercial expertise to secure the optimal balance of Price, Quality, Fashion, and Brand on every transaction.
* OTB & Volume Management: Actively manage high-volume budgets (Open to Buy) at the department and class levels, initiating between 20 to 30 complex purchase orders per week.
* Vendor Ecosystem: Establish an aggressive market presence and cultivate deep, long-term relationships with new and existing vendors, ensuring our team is their first call for surplus stock.
* Business & Strategy Analysis: Critique product mixes, monitor competitor price points, and continuously analyze retail trends to formulate weekly market strategies that maximize gross margins.
* Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a dedicated team of Merchandise Assistants (MAs) to ensure seamless operational execution and purchase order integrity.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements):
* Experience: 3 to 5 years of solid experience as a Buyer within corporate Retail environments (Apparel, Home Goods, or Accessories preferred).
* The Off-Price Mindset: Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced buying environments. You must know how to balance "opportunistic" volume buys vs. "incentive" purchases.
* Numerical Agility: Sharp analytical skills with deep experience managing OTB budgets, calculating margins, and handling retail math.
* Language: 100% Bilingual (Fluent in both English and Spanish) with excellent presentation skills, as you will interact with global division teams.
* Soft Skills: Exceptional persistence, high flexibility, trend-savviness, and the ability to make high-stakes business decisions independently and rapidly.
