purpose of the function:
as npi engineer you will introduce products and provide technical support during the launch of projects in the production areas. You will also assist and coordinate various development activities and new processes with multidisciplinary teams.
principal responsibilities:
* lead dfxs compliance reviews with the design teams and process subject matter experts for optimal manufacturability.
* evaluate and challenge designs related to technical aspects, serviceability, and manufacturability, working close with the design team.
* lead and build of the new products with the multidisciplinary team
* strong communication skills to interface and problem solve with technicians, manufacturing engineers, design team, product development, planning, purchasing, inspection, customers, and suppliers.
* proactively takes ownership of new products during pilot production phase through successful and sustained project launch. This includes driving new product introduction schedules, resolving manufacturability issues, and driving improvements for cost and efficiency and final hand-shake release to production.
* evaluate and challenge the npi process to improve effectiveness, efficiency and remove redundancy.
* design fixturing or special tooling required for product manufacturing.
* responsible for maintaining compliance with spellman qms including corrective/preventive action closures, engineering changes reviews and engineering changes implementations.
* refining boms and manufacturing work instructions, including test procedures.
* responsible for providing the information needed to create quotes (rfqs).
* develop manufacturing plans for the different phases of the new product
* work as a team to meet the kpi’s indicated by the company
* participate in activities required by the npi department when these are assigned by their direct manger or those derived by the business company direction.
* comply with the health, safety and environment policy, following the procedures and work instructions applicable to his/her activities for the participation in the established objectives and goals.
competences / abilities:
* bachelor's degree in manufacturing, electronics, mechatronics, electro-mechanical, industrial .
* 4 years of experience leading-executing new products
* advance english
* ability to communicate in both, english and spanish.
* strong foundation in fabrication and assembly of complex assemblies with demonstrated knowledge of electronics, and mechanical assembly techniques, dfx and lean principles.
* proficiency in manufacturing plans, dfma,dfmea, pfmea, design reviews, costing, mrp, ppap, fai’s
* development, modification and review of manufacturing documentation (wi, bom,drawings, mrp, flowcharts)
* drawing mark-ups, drawings reviews, spec reviews and process reviews.
* application of lean methodologies.
* team player, good negotiator, can-do attitude and dynamic skills.
* excellent leadership, high sense of urgency
* fixtures & gage knowledge develop
* strong problem-solving and analytical skills(8d’s/5why’s)
* excellent documentation skills.
* microsoft office (word, excel, powerpoint, project)
* cad knowledge: solid works / autocad / orcad/fusion is a plus
* good verbal and written communication skills.
* design experience a plus.
* experience in medical device manufacturing industry a plus.
* knowledge in an iso 9001, iso 14001 or iso 13485 a plus.
