due to our international growth, we are looking for a plant engineering and maintenance manager (electronics industry) full-time, on site in el salto, jalisco.
we seek a candidate with at least 8 years of experience in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field.
this role involves maximizing the efficiency and operational availability of all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure in the electronics manufacturing plant.
the dual focus ensures the reliability of productive assets (maintenance) and the continuous optimization of processes (manufacturing engineering), directly impacting productivity, cost reduction, and product quality.
ideal candidate will have a minimum of 70% fluency in english.
key responsibilities
a. Leadership and team management
lead and coordinate the process engineering, industrial engineering and maintenance (mechanical, electrical and technical) teams.
establish and measure combined key performance indicators (kpis), such as oee, mttr, and mtbf.
develop technical training plans and certification programs for staff in both departments.
b. Management maintenance strategy
design and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy (preventive, predictive, and corrective) focused on critical electronics line equipment (smt machines, testing equipment, reflow ovens).
manage the computerized maintenance management system (cmms) to record work orders, equipment history, and critical spare parts inventory.
manage the maintenance budget, ensuring the availability of spare parts and minimizing emergency repair costs.
c. Process and project engineering (capex)
direct process engineering for continuous improvement, seeking to reduce cycle time, optimize material use, and increase line yield.
lead the planning, justification, procurement, and installation of capital expenditure projects (capex), including new production lines, automation equipment, and infrastructure improvements.
collaborate with the npi team to ensure new machinery and processes are stable, repeatable, and properly validated before mass launch.
d. Reliability and compliance
promote the implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement methodologies (tpm, lean manufacturing, six sigma) to increase equipment reliability.
ensure that all facilities, equipment and processes comply with local and international safety, occupational health (ehs) and environmental regulations.
oversee fixed asset management, ensuring that the inventory of machinery and tools is up to date.
requirements
a. Training and experience
university degree in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related field.
(postgraduate desirable.)
certification in lean manufacturing and/or six sigma (green belt minimum, black belt preferred).
minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably high-volume electronics.
minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience leading combined engineering (processes) and maintenance teams.
b. Knowledge and technical expertise
specific experience in maintenance and optimization of smt equipment.
mastery of industrial control systems (plcs, pneumatics, hydraulics) and automated systems.
advanced cmms management (e.g., maximo, sap pm, eam, infor).
solid knowledge in root cause analysis (rca) and reliability (rcm) tools.
advanced english (reading technical manuals, communicating with international suppliers).
c. Skills and competencies
operational excellence leadership: ability to drive a culture of predictive maintenance and zero failures.
priority management: superior ability to balance urgent line support with the execution of long-term strategic projects.
data-driven decision making: using metrics (kpis, failure analysis) to guide investment and improvement strategies.
interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with technical staff, management and suppliers.
