as we continue to improve and expand our manufacturing efforts,we are seeking a dedicated and organized structural project engineer to join our growing team in tijuana, baja california.this role involves predominantly utilizing autocad, onshape (or equivalent software), ms project, smartsheet or equivalent to develop and maintain project tasks, drawings, submittal drawings, and models. You’ll work with team members to resolve design details, document changes/releases, and organize workflow through project completion.
project management:
* serve as the project manager for structural prefabricated modular projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
* coordinate project phases from inception through final integration, maintaining open communication with mdi leadership.
design and development:
* partner with the domo design and development team to engineer standardized structural modules that enhance efficiency and minimize costs.
* assist in converting structural designs into production-ready drawings with the mdi engineering teams.
* critically evaluate structural building designs for their impact on mdi module fabrication.
construction oversight:
* oversee on-site module assembly, ensuring compliance with quality and structural integrity standards.
quality assurance:
* conduct rigorous reviews (edr – engineering design reviews) of final structural elements to ensure compatibility with blueprint specifications; internal & external.
process control:
* oversee the structural supply chain and manage construction costs, employing patented connection systems to enhance efficiency.
interdisciplinary collaboration:
* collaborate with engineering, construction, and legal teams to maintain project viability and regulatory compliance.
requirements:
* degree in civil/structural engineering or a related field
* 6-10 years in structural design, real estate development, or construction; at least 5 years in project management, ideally in modular or prefabricated environments
* proficiency in structural design software (autocad/revit), project management tools (smartsheet, ms project, ms office), and familiarity with building codes (ibc/cbc); reading and properly interpretate structural & architectural drawings
* exemplary leadership and communication skills; adept at budgeting; capable of managing multiple projects under pressure and liaising with external consultants.
* fluent bilingual in english and spanish.
