Overview
this position requires schedule availability :
the metrology technician provides incoming inspection services and performs precision measurements on samples provided by sqes or process engineers. It guarantees the data obtained and keeps the records in accordance with the procedures. Manages tools and equipment within the laboratory as needed.
responsibilities
1. perform dimensional studies on raw material samples or internal assemblies.
2. perform inspections on drawings to verify that the specifications are according to the part to be measured.
3. develop incoming inspection methods, including routines on automated equipment, work instructions, and train other associates or quality inspectors as required.
4. provide or coordinate internal calibration services and external calibration of equipment.
5. maintain the pm database.
6. perform administrative and maintenance tasks in the department.
7. clean and maintain testing facilities.
8. other tasks as needed.
qualifications
* technical career completed: degree in electronics or related technologies preferred.
* associates degree as a metrology technician preferred.
* 1 - 3 years of experience with metrology, mechanical inspection, and measuring.
* experience with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, vision systems.
* experience in cmm machine operation preferred.
* strong verbal and written communication skills.
* understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
* ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments with little supervision.
* may provide guidance to other indirect or hourly personnel.
* ability to work effectively within a team environment.
* english proficiency at 60% or higher.
