Position summary the mechanical engineer supports new product development for the company’s thermal global products. The mechanical engineer is responsible for the physical design and/or thermal system design of new products. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.
responsibilities
* creates/modifies mechanical parts/assemblies/drawings in cad systems, such as creo and/or solid edge.
* create and maintain bill of materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct bom’s based on options selected by the customer.
* works with marketing, manufacturing, service and quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.
* assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise.
* gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
* understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
* assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
* coordinate performance testing in the lab.
* analyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.
* thermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.
* determine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements.
qualifications
* bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
* basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety.
* basic mechanical cad tools experience- solid edge, creo, solid works.
* experience with sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
* data-entry systems familiarity - oracle, agile, etc.
* strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
* detail oriented.
* excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
* ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.
physical & environmental demands
* must be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.
time travel required
* regular travel between office/lab and the production factory (both in monterrey) and minimal travel (<5%) to customer sites.
