The msci index management research (imr) team is a global client-centric research group responsible for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of msci index methodologies across all msci esg & climate, factor, thematic, and cap-weighted indexes, primarily focused on equities. The team operates in multiple key regions worldwide.

the imr group conducts index policy research, provides index methodology consultations, and performs market research related to msci’s market classification reviews. It is also responsible for index rebalancing.

the team collaborates closely with other research groups (such as new product development, esg) and across the firm (including data, technology, product, coverage) to implement the imr agenda, leveraging the extensive resources and expertise within msci.


your key responsibilities

as a senior associate in index management research, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing esg and climate index methodologies and investment solutions across asset classes. You will respond to client inquiries related to esg and climate index methodologies, engaging directly with clients both in person and virtually. You will manage all aspects of index rebalancing and ensure the accuracy of data sent to clients.

you will also be involved in general index management research tasks such as index policy research and supporting new product development.


your responsibilities include:

* responding to client queries regarding index methodology and research in your region.
* discussing a broad range of index methodology topics across msci's offerings, with a focus on esg/climate, ensuring methodologies incorporate the latest trends and regulatory developments, and are aligned with market portfolio management practices.
* owning a set of esg/climate indexes, overseeing their entire lifecycle including rebalances and error mitigation.
* contributing to consultation processes and engaging extensively with clients.
* acting as a liaison between internal teams such as esg research, product management, coverage, it, and dcs to manage project work streams and organizational research agenda.
* bringing 5-7 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, preferably with esg/climate expertise.
* having a strong understanding of equity index investing, construction, and familiarity with other asset classes.
* possessing fundamental knowledge of index maintenance, portfolio management, and replication across asset classes.
* experience working on an asset manager’s portfolio management desk is a plus.
* excellent client interaction skills and quantitative skills, including proficiency in python.
* attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
