People relations manager
as a people relations manager in the hr function, your main focus will be to lead with a proactive approach and take ownership and accountability for securing all parts of people relations for sales market mx-co-ec. You will ensure local governance processes are in place, enabling risk management, compliance, and follow‐up for all people relations areas, and align your strategies with the broader business goals of the sales market.
this role reports into our hr manager, mx‐co‐ec and is based in the mexico city support office.
a day in the life
* build and implement the people relations strategy for mx‐co‐ec and lead a team of people relations specialists.
* set implementation plan for new/updated group social policies, guidelines, or framework.
* determine local people relations plans and priorities aligned with global strategy.
* adapt policies and standards to legal requirements.
* provide strategic and operational advice to local management and hr business line.
* keep up to date on employment law to ensure compliance.
* govern and follow up on compliance for entire sales market (multi‐brand and logistics).
* ensure grievance procedures align with the global grievance policy and handle investigations.
* respect freedom of association for all colleagues connected to our business.
* create a trustful relationship with employee representatives.
* secure managers' awareness of responsibilities and maintain proactive dialogue.
* drive risk assessments to identify hazards in the physical and psychosocial work environment.
* participate in risk assessments to analyze events that might lead to crisis and uncertainty.
* enable crisis handling in accordance with our general people principles.
* contribute to the people relations network.
* manage outside counsel and vendor relationships for labor relations issues.
* work collaboratively with h&m attorneys on legal matters.
* perform other activities related to the position.
* travel domestically and internationally as required.
qualifications
* 10 years hr compliance and labor relations experience.
* juris doctor preferred.
* in‐depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulation.
* proven track record in developing, revising, and implementing hr policies and procedures.
* demonstrated commitment to human rights advocacy within the workplace.
* proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing occupational health and safety programs.
* fluency in spanish and english for collaboration across markets.
