under general guidance, completes the following tasks:
1. provides efficient and safe delivery and pickup of packages.
2. checks packages to ensure proper labeling, legality of content including weight and size, proper wrapping, insurance values, and special requirements for hazardous material shipments.
3. prepares necessary paperwork related to pickup and delivery, such as airway bills, delivery records, vehicle condition, etc., with neatness and accuracy.
4. seeks additional business from current customers; if unsuccessful, passes leads to the sales manager.
5. informs station operations manager and sales of changes in customer or competitor efforts.
6. loads company vehicles safely.
7. audits size and weight of packages and boxes and sorts them.
8. ensures the use of safety equipment and full compliance with fedex safety policies, procedures, norms, rules, and practices.
9. operates company vehicles safely and performs basic maintenance (cleaning, washing, checking tire pressure, etc.).
10. supports unloading customer merchandise, in bulk or on pallets, separating and validating (quality and quantity), and palletizing when needed.
11. arranges products on racks with the help of a skid or forklift (only for certified employees).
12. fulfills physical orders using work tools such as handheld scanners and pc (wms and/or excel).
13. performs value-added tasks such as product review, kit assembly, labeling, packaging, among others.
14. performs other duties as assigned.
minimum requirements
education:
* middle school degree/equivalent preferred
* basic english skills
experience:
* general knowledge of warehouse operations, packaging, inventories
* experience operating ramp and warehouse equipment preferred
skills:
* ability to lift 55 lbs. (25 kg) and maneuver packages weighing up to 150 lbs. (68 kg) with appropriate equipment
* ability to work variable shifts
* basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and experience with power and hand tools preferred
* ability to pass reading, map reading, sorting, and math sections of the basic skills test
* attention to detail, planning, organizing, problem-solving, and team skills
