Position summary
* the engineering supervisor is responsible for supporting both new product development introduction and products already implemented in the factory during their transfer to the sustaining group. The supervisor provides daily assistance to manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufactured according to requirements and prepared for transition to the sustaining team.
* the engineering supervisor oversees npdi projects with the coe team, ensuring they meet vertiv standards and are implemented efficiently. Key tasks include tracking deliverables, handling issues, and working with the engineering development manager to keep operations smooth.
* the engineering supervisor acts as a technical link between internal teams such as manufacturing, marketing, product management, application engineering, customer support, and technical support.
offer guidance and coordination to individual contributors at both the coe and the factory, supplying technical support for new product development and acting as a technical reference for design matters during ongoing production.
responsibilities
provide daily support to manufacturing operations by ensuring seamless product flow through the production line, coordinating with both on-site factory personnel and the extended center of excellence (coe) team.
* accountable for supporting manufacturing service-level agreements (slas) and critical key performance indicators (kpis) from an engineering design perspective.
* responsible for delivering npdi engineering outcomes for designated projects.
* collaborates efficiently with technicians and junior engineers, offering technical expertise and guidance to a multidisciplinary team of up to 10 engineers.
* assists in diagnosing and resolving escalated or recurring issues in field operations as well as on the production floor.
* delivers technical support to internal vertiv teams, including manufacturing, marketing, sales, application engineering, customer technical support, and services.
* demonstrates comprehensive product knowledge to propose enhancements and improvements to the group.
* aids in the creation, review, and systems entry of new product specifications, deviations, ecns, testing protocols, procedures, user manuals, submittal drawings, and sales literature.
* coordinates with contract resources and/or manufacturers for prototype and production builds.
supports troubleshooting efforts for heightened or persistent field issues.
qualifications
* bs in mechanical engineering or equivalent; mba preferred.
* 8 years npdi/sustaining experience, ideally in hvac or refrigeration.
* proficient in mechanical and or thermal design.
* skilled at managing multiple projects.
* experienced with advanced cad tools, especially creo.
* strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* excellent planning, organization, documentation, and communication skills.
* capable of multitasking in global cross-functional teams.
* fluent in spoken and written english.
