Job summary:
we are seeking a dedicated and skilled environmental, health & safety (ehs) specialist to join our team. As an ehs specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the environment.
main responsibilities:
* perform weekly walk arounds to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with eh&s regulations
* closing safety corrective actions and safety catch cards to prevent future incidents
* develop ehs training & certification programs for all areas to enhance employee knowledge and skills
* enforce contractor compliance policies to maintain a safe working environment
* update various eh&s and environmental programs to reflect changing regulations and industry best practices
* follow up on incident/accident action items to prevent recurrence
* participate in internal ehs brigades programs to promote a culture of safety within the organization
* approve and validate chemical sheets for different components and equipment
* develop and implement equipment safety release programs to minimize risks
* participate in daily safety huddles across all facilities to stay informed and address concerns
* create and adjust ehs policies as needed to reflect changing circumstances
* deploy effective communication strategies to engage employees and promote safety awareness
* participate in ehs events, fire drills, and external audits to demonstrate commitment to excellence

qualifications:
* bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related field
* proven experience in ehs roles, with a focus on regulatory compliance and training
* strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels
* proficiency in ms office and ability to learn new software quickly
* familiarity with ehs regulations and industry best practices
* ability to work independently and as part of a team
* excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
