underwriter – mexico city (entry level)
this position is accountable for developing underwriting, relationships and engineering skills while providing assistance to the account manager, primarily on underwriting issues.
individuals in this position will complete all necessary training in underwriting, engineering, relationships, client servicing and sales as outlined in a specific development plan.
it is expected that people in this position will develop the skills, experience, and knowledge to ultimately transition into the underwriter ii role.
provides assistance to account managers in handling underwriting details such as linesetting, reinsurance needs and placement, mfl studies, rating and pricing, analysis of coverages, terms and conditions, value analysis, and certificates of insurance.
gains and maintains a good knowledge of the underwriting guidelines, policy terms and conditions, profitability analysis, and pricing to assist the account manager in program analysis and design.
by working with the account manager on program structure and linesetting, gains an understanding of fm global's capacities and the use of the reinsurance placement and documentation practices (rats).
assist the account manager in account servicing activities including preparing for internal and external meetings, presentations, and proposals to begin developing account management and effective presentation skills.
utilizes relationship skills to identify clients' operating strategies and business goals as well as identify strategic players to develop client servicing plans under the guidance of an account manager.
learns loss prevention and control concepts, including how to read and utilize information from risk reports and utilize their knowledge to assist the account manager in exposure identification and analysis.
qualifications
bachelors degree or equivalent; cpcu, arm desirable
2+ years insurance preferred
strong analytical, problem solving, computer skills and attention to detail are required
basic proficiency in account management, business communications, exposure analysis, negotiations, presentation skills, program structure & linesetting, and relationships
intermediate proficiency in interpersonal skills, planning & organizing, policy terms & conditions, profitability analysis & pricing, and underwriting guidelines

this individual works in a multidisciplinary team of peers and is responsible for report development, analysis, and preparation of input for financial presentations.
responsibilities
schedule ar calls to follow up and drive activities to close out open items.
assign ownership as required to close out disputes.
research and identify key drivers on the top negative cash flow jobs in every branch team.
partner with large and diverse teams of accounting professionals (accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, general ledger).
monitor legal collections, including local outside counsel, and provide status summary.
assist with trade working capital performance reviews, including dso, under billed metrics, aged ar, and collection performance.
prepare and report on the status of disputes, including time to resolve and root causes.
complete quarterly audit on accounts payable to ensure no early payments.
establish collection goals to achieve trade working capital targets.
identify barriers impacting cash collections and propose solutions.
review monthly financial results and business metrics for the region, identifying issues and proposing corrective actions.
assist with monthly regional performance reviews, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow analysis.

qualifications

you'll research and defend the company's technical positions, help shape audit strategy, partner with cross-functional teams to deliver clear, timely responses, and support day-to-day relationships with tax authorities.
responsibilities
drive responses to tax authority requests and notices (e.g., idrs, nopas, proposed adjustments, protests).
own controversy documentation: organize workpapers, correspondence, and issue trackers using audit management tools.
build strong relationships across treasury, legal, hr, and business stakeholders to translate facts into defensible tax positions.
research and analyze complex federal tax issues and select international and transfer pricing topics.

qualifications
4+ years of experience in public accounting (big 4 strongly preferred) or in-house, focusing on federal corporate tax.

clear, confident communicator who can distill technical issues for both tax and non-tax audiences.
