serve as the technical backbone for manufacturing cells, translating complex operational requirements into automation solutions that drive efficiency, quality, and safety.
establish and maintain equipment control standards, ensuring consistency across all automation platforms.
the responsibilities include hardware selection, programming architecture development, robot sequence optimization, commissioning processes, and system validation. Play a crucial role in ensuring operational safety through auditing, installation practices, and safety assessments to protect personnel and equipment.
responsibilities
1. master multiple plc platforms (b&r automation studio, beckhoff twincat, siemens tia portal), developing control logic in structured text and ladder logic.
2. engineer control sequences for complex machinery, coordinating material handling, dispensing, fastening, welding, testing, and transport systems.
3. use python scripting and sql databases to interface automated equipment with manufacturing execution system (mes), enabling real-time data collection and analysis.
4. design operator interfaces with advanced hmi platforms, balancing usability and information display.
5. configure servo drives and vfds (schneider, b&r, beckhoff, siemens, sew) for precise positioning and energy-efficient operation, including multi-axis movements and high-speed positioning.
6. design safety systems to protect operators while maintaining efficiency, including architectures for robots, gantries, conveyors, and other equipment.
7. participate in early equipment development, considering product specs, process constraints, space, cost, and timelines.
8. manage relationships with automation suppliers throughout project phases: specification, design review, testing, installation, and commissioning.
9. collaborate with mechanical, process, manufacturing, and maintenance teams for holistic system design and implementation.
qualifications
bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics/electronics engineering, with product testing expertise.
