responsibilities

* provide installation, maintenance and repairs on equipment within an assigned territory/region to assure continuity of customer operations and high levels of customer satisfaction.
* perform tier ii work on products and services of medium-high complexity, including large servers and mainframe computers and peripherals, large system printers and plotters, enterprise level servers, networks and software, item processing readers/sorters and networking issues on imaging systems, and networking/communications equipment.
* provide hardware maintenance, installation, network management, multi-vendor maintenance and software support.
* provide installation, maintenance and repairs on atm (second line maintenance) and/or pos (point of sale) equipment and other electromechanical equipment at various locations within an assigned territory/region.
* maintain continuity of customer operations; manage customer incidents; build working relationships with customers and establish informal communication channels with the local customer account.
* own all customer issues/needs that are voiced or observed and act accordingly; may provide support to associate customer engineer and/or service technician when necessary.
* understand and perform various service level agreement (sla) requirements and escalate issues as appropriate according to procedures.
* represent ncr in a manner that reflects positively on the company’s image and reputation.
* verify site environment meets requirements prior to installation or rollout; install customer systems according to the installation plan and certify that the installation meets the customer’s requirements.
* analyze and correct technical problems on equipment within assigned customer accounts; perform periodic preventive maintenance and install modifications; perform overhauls and routine maintenance; may perform modular swaps or unit replacements.
* respond to customer calls, identify problems, escalate and resolve operating system software problems; keep the customer informed during resolution; perform service verification and customer satisfaction surveys.
* manage network fault, performance, configuration, security, software and remote system management tasks as needed.
* complete administrative functions accurately and promptly, including updating systems and databases.
* sell supplies, low-end equipment, oem products and ncr maintenance contracts for basic and/or extended service; ensure accurate charging for billable services.
* may be dispatched daily on a call-by-call basis or set own schedule based on automated reports; conduct work at customer sites, local offices, or in a virtual environment.
* may require travel and handling of tools/parts; may involve bending, squatting, walking, standing or sitting for extended periods; exposure to enclosed spaces, dust, drafts and damp areas.
* report calls and activity promptly; track and report expenses; capture detailed customer asset information for invoicing and billing.


basic qualifications

* high school diploma or equivalent
* 1-3 years of related experience
* a+ certification
* personal computer skills (microsoft operating systems and office), basic electronics; hardware and operating system knowledge on assigned products
* systems architecture (e.g., client/server, web-based systems)
* ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, overtime, and on-call
* database management systems (e.g., sql interfaces)
* network and systems management systems/protocols (e.g., ethernet, sna, wan)


preferred qualifications

* associate’s degree preferred
* 3+ years of related experience
