as a service offering built on top of oracle cloud infrastructure, it integrates award-winning oracle database technologies such as the oracle autonomous database, oracle exadata and oracle real application clusters (rac) for oltp and data warehousing workloads.
what we do
the oracle dbaas group builds and operates oracle's dbaas service on a large fleet of highly available, enterprise-grade bare metal, virtual machine and exadata infrastructure.
what you will do
* own software design, development and deployment of various critical components of the system.
* help mentor/lead a team of experienced engineers.
* be hands-on with the ability to dig into any part of the stack while also considering the big picture to inform engineering decisions.
* apply fundamentals to real-world problems and create specialized solutions.
* participate in design and architecture of large-scale distributed dbaas service features.
* design, implement and deliver software to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of the dbaas service.
* participate in research and prototyping (proof of concept) for different aspects of the oracle dbaas service.
* solve complex problems and build automation to prevent them from occurring again.
* participate in dbaas service capacity planning, demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.
* participate in periodic on-call duties.
qualifications
* 3+ years of experience in delivering and managing highly scalable and highly available distributed systems.
* strong knowledge of java and object-oriented programming.
* strong knowledge of microservices, design patterns and databases.
* good understanding of operating systems, virtualization and containers.
* strong knowledge in data structures, algorithms and computer science fundamentals.
* excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills at all levels of the stack.
* ability to quickly respond to alerts/incidents and provide initial triage or escalate to operations staff.
* bachelors degree or equivalent experience as a software engineer/developer.
* bs or ms degree or equivalent experience relevant to the functional area.
* 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
