reporting to the global category manager, the procurement agent is responsible for procurement of chemicals in country that are regionally/locally sourced and will support global category managers in executing on the global sourcing strategies of globally negotiated items.
this position is located in mexico city and will be onsite (with some flexibility).
key responsibilities:
- develop and execute sourcing strategies to meet goals in cost, quality, delivery, lead time, inventory, and risk mitigation.
- lead supplier negotiations on pricing, contract terms, and assurance of supply, preparing documentation and agreements as needed.
- manage vendor relationships and systems, including vendor setup, product updates, and master data maintenance in the erp system.
- create and implement category management plans, aligning with global strategies, including supplier evaluations and spend analysis.
- monitor and improve supplier performance, resolving quality and delivery issues while identifying alternate sources to reduce risk.
- collaborate cross-functionally with global category managers, sales, r&d, and supply chain to align sourcing with business objectives.
- analyze market trends and build cost models to forecast pricing, identify savings opportunities, and support competitive positioning.
essential requirements:
- bachelor’s degree.
- 3-5 years of experience in raw material procurement, demand planning, or related field.
- minimum 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management, preferably in the chemical industry.
- intermediate to advanced english proficiency.
preferred qualifications:
- experience with global sourcing.
- background or strong understanding of chemical engineering.
- mba or advanced business degree preferred.
