*about the role*:
as we look to grow our finance team, we are looking for a payroll specialist with a good sense of humor, a rock-solid work ethic, and relentless attention to detail.
you will support primary global payroll administration in mexico and implementation/execution globally, and assist with different payroll project management coordination.
you will also support global year-end activities.
you will be an important employee resource for global payroll matters and will perform other payroll-related responsibilities.

*key responsibilities*
- support global payroll operations, including payroll processing/review, journal entries, performing quality review checks & analysis, and assisting with internal reporting
- includes: mx employees, us employees, and 200+ international independent contractors
- _mexico only_: verify semi-monthly payroll processing with our payroll provider, including for new hires, terminations, bonuses, commissions, and other employee tax and benefits deductions; ensure timely payment
- _internationally_: _review and process contracts for monthly payments in deel
- review, analyze, and understand current payroll, benefit, and tax treatment for wage and employer-paid benefits in partnership with the people operations team as needed
- assist team members with payroll questions and other related inquiries
- support global payroll analytics servicing payroll reporting requests from multiple departments or external including developing ad-hoc reports
- perform other payroll duties as needed, including manual payments, wage garnishments, and withholding orders
- maintain compliance audits and proper record keeping of payroll documents, reports, and detailed employee transactions
- respond to inquiries from finance regarding monthly salary variances and month-end reporting
- prepare and process out-of-sequence payrolls adhering to state and federal regulations
- track incoming payroll-related mail and take appropriate action
- support and maintain multi-state tax functions including reviewing withholding, unemployment, and other tax notices and completing registrations.
work independently and with vendors to resolve tax-related issues and discrepancies.
- create and maintain documentation of payroll processes and procedures
- help with the setup of new countries' payroll including migration from another provider, as we stand up more country entities
- work with the internal team and vendors to ensure hr, benefits, and payroll changes are processed, accurate funding occurs for all accounts, tax remittance, general ledger balancing, and month-end close support is completed
- support global month-end reconciliation research
- participate in different payroll projects and other opportunities as assigned
*qualifications*
- 2+ years' experience in global payroll including understanding global payroll tax administration
- strong excel skills are required (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
- basic accounting knowledge and je preparation experience is helpful
- knowledge of labor law/legislation and a full understanding of payroll best practices
- great organization skills; ability to multitask
- ability to excel as an individual contributor as well as communicate effectively with internal teams
- you create and execute your own work.
