as a manufacturing engineer, you will work in an advisory capacity to manufacturing, engineering, and/or purchasing departments using knowledge of methods and materials in a specialized field or general manufacturing to optimize cost and quality.
role & responsibility
process analysis
* analysis of time and motion, methods, estimating, process engineering and plant layout for assigned area to ensure balanced methods and available capacity to meet customer demand.
* implement factory manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials in terms of their associated cost, time, ergonomic, quality, and quantity factors.
* assist in recommended changes, collect information for capital justifications, and participate in the design and development of new manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials to contribute to the assigned area’s short‑ and long‑term economic objectives.
* write and distribute manufacturing changes and associated operating work instructions to all affected personnel on the shop floor as well as train operators on the product and process changes.
* assist in the installation of new equipment and help train employees in the proper use of the equipment.
* track submitted requisitions and purchase orders.
* update routings and manufacturing bill of materials (mbom) with direction from manager.
problem solving
* produce, publish, and maintain complete documentation for all tools.
* review engineering designs for estimating tool and manufacturing cost. Identify design changes to maximize economical manufacturing.
* prepare justifications and make recommendations for the procurement of new machines and equipment. Assist with installation and train employees in the proper use of the equipment.
job requirement
* bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing or engineering related field.
* product knowledge is a plus.
* excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* 7+ years’ experience.
* lean manufacturing experience preferred with green belt or black belt training or certification.
* less than 10% travel.
