summary
the product configuration analyst is hershey’s expert in full product recipe structure for all products in the product data management (pdm) system. This role is responsible for developing product assembly (candy plus packaging) specifications. The role actively manages the configuration of recipe data to keep recipes, bill of materials, and actual production aligned across manufacturing sites. Responsible for creating general and plant-specific assembly recipes and specifications by managing materials that establish the multi-layer recipe structure. Coordinates with supply chain, finance, gbs, and r&d stakeholders to expedite workflows within the pdm system according to project timelines. Collaborates with product change specialists and project managers to track progress and compile reports on product creation/change activities. Ensures data standards are upheld by engaging stakeholders across r&d, gbs, supply chain, and commercial groups to align recipes with new product structures.
responsibilities:
management of product recipes in pdm
creates and maintains hershey’s multi-layer, general recipes in the pdm system based on project decisions, product development expectations, and engineering assumptions.
validates inputs, quantities, units, outputs, and data attributes during recipe creation.
manages materials within recipes to represent manufacturing processes and support product costing and supply chain strategies.
champions proper use of recipe data and verifies all product changes have corresponding product engineering records.
creation of product specifications from recipes
requests new materials to complete specifications and recipes, ensuring adherence to data standards.
uses the pdm tool to establish specifications at each recipe level, confirming compliance with standards.
maintains shelf-life data supporting inventory and order management.
acts as a subject matter expert on assembly specifications derived from recipes.
bill of materials preparation
analyzes final recipes for completeness and correctness to ensure accurate downstream processes.
authorizes the release of recipe data through pdm for bill of materials synchronization.
data validation and quality review
upholds company data standards for recipes, specifications, and boms by engaging with stakeholders across departments.
serves as a process expert, engaging in system and process improvements, identifying gaps, and supporting implementation.
minimum knowledge and skills
knowledge of product recipes, materials, specifications, and assembly processes.
understanding of manufacturing processes, recipe development, materials management, bom, and product costing.
attention to detail, process excellence, and system orientation.
stakeholder management, kpi measurement, sap/tool knowledge, and strong communication skills.
proficiency in microsoft o365 suite.
education
bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, economics, engineering, or related field.
experience
1-2+ years in systems-related work, preferably in cpg or plm.
2-4 years of business experience preferred.
sap materials and bom management experience is a plus.
proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and develop solutions for complex problems.
