Responsibilities
the technical applications lab engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· responsible for the installation, maintenance, training and sustainability of all applications lab equipment and lab facilities to support the continued operation of the department.
· oversees all the daily activities of lab technicians, and lab assistants.
· providing different levels of technical support depending on the complexity of the request. This could include process/product troubleshooting, process diagnostic and development, process optimizations, problem debugging, technical training for engineers, technicians and lab assistants.
· provides advance guidance and experience to assist in the testing and development of aim products, such as solder paste, liquid flux, solder wire, etc.
· working with aim r&d, field tech support, qa and other departments in product evaluations of existing and developmental products.
· working directly with tse engineers, r&d chemists and other key personnel from technical support, r&d and other aim internal departments requesting technical applications lab support and collaborating with them in a timely manner as required by each project’s established timeline and priority.
· writing detailed technical reports about the lab test results and collaborating with technical marketing and technical product management in the evaluation, review of the information in order to publish as required.
· relaying product trends and problems as well as customer needs to director of technical support and applications and regional technical support manager (as appropriate).
· performs proactive bench-marking of aim vs competitor’s products.
· performing work in an organized and traceable manner (lsr and other standard lab reports).
qualification criteria
the technical applications senior engineer should possess:
* post-secondary education, mechanical, electronics, or chemical engineering degree preferred
* 3-5 years’ experience running electronic pcb assembly lines for an ems provider or oem experience, supervisory experience, relevance to be determined by the vice president of technology.
