responsibilities
- serve as a leader within the environment & sustainability (e&s) team, spearheading kimberly‑clark’s commitment to better care for a better world and ensuring the facility aligns with k‑c e&s standards and local legal requirements.
- use influence without authority to identify and implement processes and systems that elevate site program maturity, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement in environmental and sustainability results. May lead a team of professionals and report to the segment e&s operations leader.
- ensure compliance with k‑c and regulatory controls related to environmental matters.
- take ownership of the environmental and sustainability components within the site’s e&s management system.
- identify environmental aspects, hazards, emerging requirements, and verify that they are managed to acceptable levels of risk or impact.
- define and lead the site’s environmental and sustainability risk reduction strategy, implementing plans and continuously assessing performance effectiveness.
- lead the facility’s effort to elevate the e&s operating model to align with iso 14001:2026, implementing strategies and initiatives to improve program effectiveness.
- embed k‑c’s e&s strategies and partner to drive execution, improving program maturity and ensuring consistent application of e&s standards across global teams.
- drive facility e&s objectives through pipeline ideation, cpc/sustainability system alignment, and calibration with plant and central teams.
- deliver sustainability 2030 goals, including water use reduction, climate emissions reduction, waste elimination, and chemicals of concern elimination.
- lead environmental event investigations, conduct root‑cause evaluations, and ensure effective corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
- verify corrective and preventive actions mitigate recurrence of incidents and escalations follow the e&s process.
- ensure all employees undergo environmental and sustainability orientation and training programs.
- ensure contractors adhere to k‑c standards and e&s requirements for environmental matters.
- implement next‑generation digital reporting and assurance within the site, driving resource efficiency and equity across brands.
- utilize digital platforms for environmental data analysis, ensuring data integrity and providing insights to recommend improvement actions.
required qualifications
- bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental management, sustainability, or a related field.
- 6–7+ years of experience in environmental management.
- strong experience in:
- environmental legal compliance (permits, audits, regulations)
- risk assessment and environmental hazard management
- environmental management systems (preferably iso 14001)
- proven ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
- strong leadership skills, including:
- managing difficult conversations
- driving culture change in plant or manufacturing environments
- experience working in manufacturing or plant environments.
- advanced english proficiency (must‑have for global interaction).
- experience leading incident investigations and root‑cause analysis.
- ability to manage ambiguity and operate in evolving environments.
- knowledge of mexican environmental regulations: semarnat, profepa, conagua, cedes.
preferred qualifications
- experience with water management strategies, especially in water‑stressed sites.
- experience with sustainability initiatives (ghg emissions, waste, water reduction).
- experience with data analytics and digital e&s systems.
- prior experience in kimberly‑clark or similar global manufacturing environments.
- experience managing direct reports (team leadership).
- lean mindset and continuous improvement experience.
