how will you make an impact in this role?
this position, based in mexico city, will lead all aspects of tax controversy and oversee tax compliance and accounting for all mexican legal entities, supported by three team members.
* manage all tax authority audits and controversies, including settlement discussions, with external consultants when necessary.
* collaborate across the organization to maintain documentation supporting audits.
* work with the tax planning and advisory team to define technical criteria for audits.
* identify and communicate potential exposures timely.
* discuss material tax positions with external auditors related to financial statements and dictamen fiscal.
* represent the tax department with senior leaders and the executive team in mexico on tax controversy matters.
* review and sign off on corporate income tax, vat returns, local tax provisions, and dictamen fiscal.
minimum qualifications
* post-secondary degree in law or accounting, with at least 12 years of experience in tax compliance for corporate income tax and vat.
* experience leading dictamen fiscal processes with external auditors.
* proven experience managing audits with tax authorities for multinational companies, including dealings with prodecon and appeals.
* ability to guide teams in creating audit documentation that meets formal and substance requirements.
* strong understanding of mexican gaap and us gaap tax accounting.
* experience managing other tax professionals.
* excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders and senior leaders.
* experience in a big 4 firm or multinational in the financial sector is preferred.
* fluent in english, both written and spoken.
