the plant process engineer - lead is the manufacturing engineering representative for all plant equipment and process tasks for program teams (pt). The plant process engineer - lead defines and executes manufacturing processes for new products and customer programs, analyzes workforce utilization, space requirements, process flow, and designs, buys, and installs equipment for maximum efficiency. This person also manages all process tasks and optimization. Works cross-functionally with engineering, program management, and the program team to meet targets for manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, scrap, containment, and efficiency optimization.
essential duties and responsibilities (duties required for successful job performance)
* coordinate activities of the process engineering department.
* monitor and ensure the execution of department activities.
* analyze, develop, and evaluate for decision making.
* prepare managerial and corporate presentations.
* support in high-risk areas or processes.
* ensure the participation of engineers under supervision in fast response, and the timely completion of corrective and preventive actions.
* develop and monitor heatmap.
* monitor scrap / oee of processes and implement actions to reduce it.
* develop new process engineers.
* develop and implement performance improvement strategies for continuous improvement.
* make effective decisions to solve problems related to quality, production, and engineering.
* participate actively in new product quotes.
* supervise, evaluate, and control the development of sow / sor for new equipment and ensure their release.
* ensure accurate capacity studies and information for customers.
* establish processes for new product lines; document development and changes; evaluate performance; monitor new tool design.
* maintain continuity of engineering actions through weekly meetings.
* implement and follow-up on actions that improve efficiency metrics.
* escalate and resolve problems effectively with other departments’ superintendents.
* ensure bom and router information accuracy, and efficiency within targets.
* participate in wor, bts, scrap, 8ds, tier 2, launch, and semaphore meetings.
* participate and meet targets in wat, cs factory.
* apply statistical methods for problem-solving and process improvement.
* share best practices and lessons learned initiatives.
* perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
* achieve spc improvement cp/cpk 1.33/1.67.
* follow responsibilities and authorities as per iso 14001 / 45001 standards.
* comply with policies related to iatf 16949 standards.
required education, experience, and knowledge
* education: bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or mechatronic engineering.
* experience: minimum five years in manufacturing or process engineering; automotive and manufacturing experience preferred.
* knowledge: troubleshooting tools, core tools, pfmea, lean manufacturing, gd&t, autocad, omnex, english proficiency, sap basics.
required skills and abilities
* perform time and motion studies.
* knowledge of lean techniques (kanban, kaizen, six sigma, project management).
* develop and implement manufacturing layouts, processes, and equipment changes.
* conduct ergonomic evaluations.
* excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
* staff management experience.
* knowledge of industry 4.0 / cs factory and visual factory.
* understanding of quality assurance metrics (cpk, pfmea, spc).
