The npi manufacturing engineer is expected to lead multiple high and medium complexity npi projects for manufacturing; serve as mentor for team members, and manage operations cross-functional teams, ensuring project milestones are meet on time and within project budget.
design, develop and implement manufacturing processes considering tools, equipment, layout, facilities, and systems to create safe and quality product with a competitive cost and optimum performance for new products and processes. Creates and documents process standards and work instructions, focused mainly on new products and new processes. Analyzes data from manufacturing processes related to time studies, layouts, etc. and continuously improves process performance in safety, quality, cost, etc.
* lead multiple high and medium complexity npi projects for manufacturing.
* coordinate and implement activities or npi projects with minimal supervision of a senior engineer or supervisor (engineer & pilot runs, pre-production preparation, etc.).
* work with npi project managers to develop operations project plans that meet stakeholder expectations and established project deliverables; write proposals (technical descriptions, schedules, cost breakdowns).
* design, quote, purchase and implement fixtures, tools, workstation improvements, equipment, and processes, etc. to support npi, new processes, and continuous improvement.
* develop cost estimates and execute cost reduction strategies.
* analyzing boms, interpreting drawings, engineering specifications and can consult sap transactions to support production in engineering related problems.
* represent manufacturing as a member of npi program core teams.
* identify and communicate high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints.
* implement approved action plans and workarounds to mitigate project risk events.
* validate critical new or modified parts in manufacturing process with control runs or other tools for the cqp and ppap process.
* apply lean manufacturing and six sigma tools and principles to different areas or plantwide projects to improve manufacturing, material flow and process overall performance.
* audit and maintain industrial engineering process information like time study, standard work, capacity, line balancing; create update and audit process layout when changes are being implemented.
* provide support to the efforts for functional departments to ensure that the projects are managed in accordance with established policies and procedures; support and implement policies, procedures and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (ts 16949, apqp and aiag).
* support and track quality system tools and procedures including spc, pfmea, and engages activities to improve operational kpis and/or solve quality related problems; maintain work instructions and iso 9000 and chamberlain manufacturing system documentation.
* create temporary process deviations documentation (pcos) for process and material changes when required and implements ecn activities regarding manufacturing processes.
