Job summary
the global quality engineer is a member of the global quality team who works in a tpi factory, supporting global quality activities in all sites in a region. He/she is responsible to support the development of quality personnel and the quality performance of the manufacturing sites. key stakeholders include customer quality, general/plant managers, quality managers, engineering managers, production managers, regional operations teams, and the tpi management team.
responsibilities & accountabilities
* leverages best practices, lessons learned, and synergies across regional manufacturing sites
* engages with the global team to ensure that information from other regions flows into their sites
* supports programs to improve quality metrics such as # of ncrs, # of sdrs, and copq.
* supports the implementation of global quality initiatives in their sites
* provides governance of all factory processes to ensure that both customer and tpi quality requirements are met.
* supports activities focused on improving process quality as opposed to relying on inspection
* works with the customer quality, supplier quality, supply chain, technology, engineering, and production teams to ensure superior product quality through the entire value chain.
* collaborates with the regional and site quality, engineering, and production leaders.
* ensures that customer requirements are understood and met.
* has the authority to stop production or delivery of suspect product
* identifies and fixes problems
* coaches colleagues
* creates and promotes a culture of collaboration, team-work and fun while delivering to or exceeding expectations
* other activities as requested
who we are looking for:
* bachelor degree in engineering, quality management or related field of study
* advanced degree preferred but not required
* 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience
* must spend the majority of work time on the factory floor
* extensive experience in product and process quality in blade manufacturing.
* experience with engaging teams in multiple locations
* strong leadership, mentoring, organizational and communication skills at all levels—comfortable on the production floor and in the meeting room.
* self-motivated, self-directed, proactive, solutions driven change agent required
* working knowledge of operations and engineering
* understanding of manufacturing metrics such as # of nonconformities, # of deviation requests, and copq
* english fluency and fluency in the local language of the region (spanish).
* knowledge in lean/six sigma methodology preferred
