*cloud administrator*
*(brazil, argentina, mexico)*
*remote*
role overview
we need a hands-on cloud administrator who can tame a sprawl of aws, gcp, and oci environments—with immediate focus on aws account consolidation, resource rationalization, and cost-saving initiatives. Devops know-how is a plus, but your core mission is to restructure billing hierarchies, delete waste, and unlock savings-plan / commitment opportunities while enforcing sound security and access controls.
Key responsibilities:
1. Aws account consolidation & billing re-org
- migrate standalone pay-as-you-go accounts into organizations / consolidated billing.
- design ous, scps, and tagging/chargeback models for clear cost ownership.
2. Cost-optimization & commitment planning
- use cost explorer, cur, and trusted advisor to spot idle/under-utilized resources; terminate or right-size.
- recommend and purchase savings plans / reserved instances for stable workloads.
- build dashboards and monthly reports highlighting savings and spend trends.
3. Resource inventory & housekeeping
- audit and clean up ebs snapshots, orphaned elbs, unattached ips, idle rds/ec2, test clusters, etc.
- standardize naming, tagging, and lifecycle policies across aws, gcp, and oci.
4. Vpc & security governance
- review and harden vpc designs, iam roles, scps, kms policies, and logging/monitoring.
- ensure least-privilege access, mfa enforcement, and periodic access reviews.
5. Automation & documentation
- automate repetitive cleanup tasks with terraform, aws cli, or python/bash scripts.
- produce runbooks, diagrams, and cost-governance guidelines for ops and devops teams.
Must-have skills:
- aws account & cost-management expertise (organizations, cost explorer, savings plans, ri management).
- solid hands-on administration of at least one additional cloud (gcp or oci).
- strong knowledge of iam, vpc networking, tagging strategies, and security best practices.
- scripting / iac (terraform preferred) for automation and policy enforcement.
- proven history of deleting waste, right-sizing workloads, and delivering hard cost savings.
Nice-to-have
- exposure to ci/cd or devops tooling (jenkins, gitlab, azure devops, etc.).
- experience with aws control tower or custom landing zone deployments.
- cloud cost-management certifications (finops practitioner, aws cloud financial management) are a plus.
