coordinate, deploy and implement the ehs strategy at the plant, ensuring zero injuries and illnesses, compliance with mexican law and industry standards, and alignment with newell brands global ehs policies.
responsibilities
* participate in the development of ehs local resources, providing training, coaching and building teamwork.
* support and deploy the strategy by defining operational planning to improve ehs performance, analyzing and defining the resources needed, and creating a succession plan to ensure non‑disruption.
* coordinate development of material based on corporate information.
* ensure full compliance with fm global, environmental corporate standards, seal guidelines, and adequate reporting to corporate and government.
* participate in the development of the site’s business continuity plan (bcp).
* perform regulatory assessment and ensure full compliance with ehs regulations.
* ensure on‑time reporting of any ehs issue in accordance with newell and regulatory requirements.
* participate in the development of emergency response plans for the site.
* develop ehs programs based on information analysis and trends.
* coordinate the execution of jsa, risk analysis and prevention tools, focusing on the safe and environmentally friendly control of operational activities. (risk maps, risk assessments, audits, jsa, work permits, safe working procedures, ergonomics plan, etc.)
* support the design and execution of the ehs training strategy and its modalities, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
* coordinate and validate the implementation of safety management of change (smoc) that impacts safety, health, and environment, engaging and monitoring innovation, savings, spending and capital initiatives.
* actively participate in purchasing, bidding and operational control of contracts related to ehs activities, ensuring budget execution, qualification for all sites, financial and compliance guideline adherence, and delivery of committed savings.
* participate in the design and implementation of seal & peak activities and programs.
* act as the responsible person for ehs legal compliance.
* lead response to external agencies (local, regional or federal).
* coordinate the daily management system for safety incidents at the plant, ensuring reporting, investigation, corrective/preventive actions, timely closure and trend analysis.
* coordinate the development and implementation of prevention programs to strengthen the safety and environmental culture of the plant.
* responsible for the emergency response plan – brigades.
* legal compliance: fill and administer st7, st8, st9, st2, st3 and procedures with social security; support risk premium information; elaborate state and federal coa; coordinate rme manifests; deliver semi‑annual reports to semarnat.
qualifications
* bachelor’s degree in science.
* english proficiency: able to write, speak and read.
* minimum five years of experience in safety, environmental & health.
* knowledge of local legislation and regulation, mexican nom, osha, and environmental, safety & facilities management system implementation.
