the position
we are seeking a dynamic operations director for high-speed cables business unit (bulk wire & cables b.u.) manufacturing operations. The operations director will drive excellence overseeing manufacturing performance, production planning, quality, plant operations, and logistics to ensure world-class results. the role includes leadership of advanced bulk wire & cable business unit in mexicali, mexico and advanced bulk wire in connecticut, usa.
the mexicali site is integrated by several company businesses and operating units. The operations director for high-speed cables will supervise operating units manufacturing wire and cable assemblies that are part of the campus site. this is a pivotal role for a hands-on, strategic leader ready to shape performance, build synergies, and drive operational success across a global manufacturing footprint. this operations director will be based in mexicali, mexico.
essential job functions:
* develop and implement operational strategies to support bulk wire and cable assemblies bu objectives, including the ability to interact well with customers.
* establish and monitor kpi’s to track productivity, cost, quality performance, and lead times.
* manage and provide leadership to local plant managers who are responsible for operations, purchasing, production, and quality teams.
* ensure that reporting departments have appropriate resources and are managed to fulfill responsibilities.
* deliver on targets for key performance metrics including quality, productivity, cost and delivery.
* develop, promote and drive compliance for all standard operating procedures.
* plan for and recommend necessary resources to ensure success, including capital equipment, trained employees, appropriate facilities, effective infrastructure and materials.
* communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management, distilling complex technical information into clear, concise presentations to drive aligned decisions on quality issues and initiatives, and obtain buy-in from key stakeholders.
the candidate
candidate qualifications:
education: bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
proven leadership: minimum of 7 years in senior-level operations or manufacturing management (e.g., operations or manufacturing director – multi-sites or senior plant management multi-site responsibility), ideally in fast-paced, technology-driven manufacturing sectors.
strategic expertise: demonstrated success in developing and executing strategies involving footprint optimization, capacity analysis, start-ups, ramp-ups, technology integration, new product launches, and transfer initiatives.
execution & agility: thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments; a hands-on leader who takes initiative and delivers results.
project leadership: strong project management capabilities with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
influence & communication: exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels, including customers and senior management.
client relationship building: track record of developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
global mobility: willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to ~30%). Ability to relocate to mexicali, mexico.
