the logistics, ltl & personnel transportation buyer manages strategic sourcing decisions driven by market conditions, data analytics, business intelligence, cost, technology, and quality, aiming to maximize ford's logistics business within the na region. This includes leading cross-regional and functional groups, working with carriers and suppliers for services such as ltl, personnel transportation, warehouse, and contract logistics.
responsibilities
* develop and execute supply base/commodity strategies focused on logistics.
* collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives related to cost, timing, and quality.
* lead negotiations to ensure cost efficiency and long-term price sustainability.
* manage supplier risk and ensure timely delivery of sourced projects.
* analyze data to support business decisions and track price changes.
* conduct rfp evaluations and secure project contract sign-offs.
* manage sourcing processes to ensure value, supply base diversity, and strong supplier relationships.
* provide local sourcing expertise and lead negotiations as delegated.
* support project management and resolve supply issues.
* build and maintain positive supplier relationships.
* develop and implement capacity mitigation and supply risk management plans.
qualifications
* bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business administration, engineering, or related fields.
* experience in procurement, with advanced english skills.
* strong communication, data analytics, and business intelligence skills.
* proficiency in microsoft office; experience with logistics/transportation systems is desirable.
additional candidate qualifications
* knowledge of logistics, ltl, contract logistics, and personnel transportation.
* understanding of automotive industry kpis and continuous improvement tools.
* strong negotiation, relationship management, risk assessment, and project management skills.
* proficiency in data analytic tools like qlikview, tableau, alteryx.
