Responsibilities and deliverables
this role is the main contact point for quality on site during each shift and generally needs to:
* ensure that the quality team on shift performs all required activities and checks.
* ensure that the operational team on shift performs all required activities and checks to produce good quality (semi)product from raw material intake to finished product.
* support the site quality manager to deliver quality improvement programs and projects and promote quality improvement in their shift.
* make on‑shift quality decisions and escalate any on‑shift quality problems.
* ensure compliance to specifications of raw materials, work‑in‑progress and semi‑finished product (bulk) through execution of microbiological and physicochemical analysis, reporting any deviation and participating in collaborative resolution of deviations.
* make day‑to‑day decisions impacting the qa shop floor and client areas.
* be the voice of quality assurance with all client areas during a shift.
* supervise physicochemical and microbiological laboratory analysis (raw materials, utilities, semi‑finished product, finished product) using high‑technology equipment ensuring reliability of results based on local and international standards.
* support production teams to adjust processes as necessary to ensure quality is achieved.
* provide performance tracking and support on production metrics and related processes.
* ensure accurate maintenance of equipment and full adherence to calibration verification plans.
* conduct repeatability and reproducibility analysis.
* provide training to lab technicians and operations from production areas.
scope
implementation, management and maintenance of the end‑to‑end management (quality systems) on the site. This does not include full responsibility for contents and compliance, which fall under the relevant site departments.
from raw material intake to finished product and utilities. Supports on‑site logistics/warehousing operations.
requirements
* bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferably in food chemistry/engineering, qfb, chemical engineering, industrial engineering or biology.
* experience as lead auditor with a focus on quality (iso ___), food safety (fssc ___), kosher (preferably supported by certification).
* experience with safety (iso ___) and environmental (iso ___) is a plus.
* experience in shop floor awareness campaign.
* excellent analytical skills and ability to develop, implement, maintain quality systems.
* strong leadership, collaboration skills, and proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
team
the role reports into the site operations qa coordinator. It has no direct reports, but during the shift supervises shift qa lab analysts.
