Overviewwe are seeking an experienced tool room manager to lead and oversee our injection molding tool room operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing tool rooms, tool engineering expertise, and a proven record of leading a group of tooling engineers in a high-volume injection molding operation. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and a keen eye for detail.responsibilities
* manage and supervise daily operations of the tool room, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
* oversee the design, development, maintenance and improvement of injection molds and tooling equipment.
* collaborate with corporate engineering team to address improvements, tooling issues, implement solutions, and optimize processes.
* develop and implement tool room policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance safety, productivity and quality.
* train and mentor tool room staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
* monitor and maintain inventory levels of tooling spares, ensuring timely procurement and minimal downtime.
* conduct regular inspections and maintenance of tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.
* drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
* collaborate with tooling engineers, process engineers, and quality engineers to improve the performance and consistency of injection molds and molded components.
* identify, justify, and implement cost reduction projects to reduce the cost of maintaining and repairing injection molds.
* ensure that general mold maintenance and tool repairs are performed with accuracy and quality.
* provide leadership to continuously improve a culture of safety and quality in the tool room.
* collaborate with the reverse engineering lab team to optimize the process of obtaining part drawings.
qualifications
minimum qualifications
* bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
* minimum of 7 years of experience managing tool rooms.
* at least 5 years of experience working as a tooling engineer, specifically in injection molding.
* proven experience managing a team of tooling engineers.
* strong technical knowledge of injection mold design, development, and maintenance.
* proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
* excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
* strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
* detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and precision.
