the environmental conservation specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization's environmental legal compliance, maintaining iso 14001 certification, and meeting environmental sustainability expectations.
this position is responsible for complying with and ensuring compliance of environmental policies, performing legal gap analysis, developing action plans, and monitoring compliance by each location.
the ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or an environmental-related field, and a master's degree in environmental science is highly preferred. They must also have at least five years of experience in similar job positions and hold an iso 14001 lead auditor certification.
additionally, the candidate should possess english proficiency and be able to establish criteria for sustainability reporting as required by the organization.
key responsibilities
* comply with and ensure compliance of environmental policies.
* perform environmental legal gap analysis, develop action plans, and monitor compliance by each location.
* develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans to ensure corporate sustainable development.
* lead sustainable procurement for all goods and services, negotiate environmental service agreements, and manage associated costs and revenues.
* ensure environmental reports are delivered to authorities within specified timeframes.
* implement environmental management systems to continually improve the organization's impact on the environment.
* generate and review environmental kanban cards to ensure compliance.
* coordinate aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy.
* perform site visits to carry out impact assessments, identifying and reducing environmental risks and financial costs.
* establish criteria for sustainability reporting as required by the organization.
* participate in sustainability committees to assess environmental technical data.
* participate in ehs internal and external audits.
* ensure organizational sustainability targets are met, developing plans and overseeing their delivery.
requirements
* bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or an environmental-related field.
* master's degree in environmental science preferably.
* five-years' experience in similar job positions.
* iso 14001 lead auditor certification.
* english proficiency (70%).
