Supply ops team n-tier specialist

Cuautitlán, Méx
Ford
Publicada el 26 febrero
Descripción

We are seeking a tenacious and inquisitive n-tier value stream specialist to drive deep visibility and resilience into the sub-layers of our global supply chain. Be part of one of the fastest-moving organizations within ford that sets the benchmark for standard work and efficiency. Managing in the supply operations team (sot) means joining a group of high performers who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

this role is pivotal in moving ford from reactive crisis management to proactive risk elimination. You will be responsible for mapping critical value streams, identifying dangerous concentrations (regional, supplier-specific, or raw material), and leading cross-functional teams to execute mitigation strategies before disruptions occur. You will serve as the detective and the architect of resilience, liaising between sot, purchasing, engineering, and mp&l to ensure the continuity of ford production.

we are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world — together. At ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

responsibilities

sub-tier visibility & value stream mapping:

* lead the initiative to illuminate the "black box" of the supply chain by mapping multi-tier value streams for critical commodities, electronic components, and raw materials.
* utilize advanced digital tools and supplier data to visualize the end-to-end flow of materials, identifying nodes of connectivity between tier 1, tier 2, and raw material sources.
* validate supplier-provided mapping data against real-world intelligence to ensure a "source of truth" regarding manufacturing locations and logistics routes.

concentration risk identification & analysis:

* proactively analyze the supply base to identify high-risk concentrations, including regional risks (geopolitical instability, natural disaster zones), raw material risks (single-source mines, chemical dependencies), and supplier risks (financial solvency, capacity constraints).
* calculate and monitor time to recover (ttr) and time to survive (tts) metrics for critical components, flagging value streams where ttr exceeds acceptable safety stock levels.
* conduct "what-if" scenario planning to model the impact of potential disruptions (e.g., port strikes, border delays, energy shortages) on specific vehicle lines.

cross-functional mitigation & strategic execution:

* lead cross-functional "tiger teams" with purchasing, sta (supplier technical assistance), and product engineering to qualify alternative sources, validate substitute materials, or re-shore manufacturing for high-risk components.
* drive the execution of risk mitigation strategies, moving from analysis to action with urgency to reduce single points of failure in the n-tier network.
* collaborate with buyers to integrate n-tier risk scoring into future sourcing decisions, ensuring resilience is weighted alongside cost and quality.

operational excellence & crisis prevention:

* establish monitoring mechanisms for raw material pricing and availability trends that may impact tier 1 production capabilities.
* serve as the subject matter expert on sub-tier vulnerabilities during daily operations reviews, providing actionable intelligence to senior leadership to prevent line stoppages.
* drive initiatives to reduce dependency on high-risk regions or conflict minerals, aligning supply chain operations with ford’s sustainability and compliance goals.

qualifications

education & experience

* bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations management, industrial engineering, logistics, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in supply chain operations, procurement, or value stream management within the automotive, electronics, or aerospace industries.
* 3+ years of specific experience in n-tier mapping, sub-supplier management, or raw material sourcing strategies.
* demonstrated experience leading cross-functional risk mitigation projects (e.g., qualifying dual sources, managing resourcing projects) with a track record of speed and execution.

technical acumen

* deep understanding of value stream mapping (vsm) and theory of constraints.
* proficiency in supply chain visibility and risk mapping software (e.g., resilinc, everstream, or similar mapping tools) and data visualization (power bi, tableau).
* strong grasp of bill of materials (bom) structures and the ability to trace components back to raw material origin.
* knowledge of global logistics flows, incoterms, and regional trade dynamics (including usmca compliance).

strategic & analytical thinking

* ability to synthesize disparate data points (geopolitics, market trends, supplier capacity) into a cohesive risk profile.
* strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root-cause analysis; ability to look beyond the immediate symptom to find the systemic issue deep in the supply chain.
* ability to quantify risk in financial and operational terms to drive decision-making.

influence & communication

* fluency in english and spanish (professional working proficiency required).
* strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders in purchasing and engineering without direct authority.
* excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex n-tier data simply and urgently to leadership.
* high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to drive progress in a complex, data-scarce environment.

cultural fit (critical for success)

* proven high performer who consistently exceeds expectations and delivers excellence in high-pressure environments.
* thrives in high-speed, agile, and proactive problem-solving environments.
* strong sense of urgency and accountability, particularly when addressing delivery risks to production.

even better, you may have...

preferred qualifications

* master’s degree or mba in supply chain or operations.
* apics (cpim/cscp) or ascm certifications.
* specific commodity expertise in semiconductors, battery raw materials (lithium, nickel, cobalt), or steel/aluminum markets.
* experience with plm systems (teamcenter) and erp systems (sap/oracle).
