We're excited to welcome a new team member in monterrey, mexico, as a regional category manager for our mining business in north and south america. You'll join our dynamic service business line organization, specifically within the group category management and trade compliance team. This team focuses on transportation, warehouse, packaging, and trade compliance, leading global strategies and commercial settings.
In this pivotal role, you'll lead regional category management initiatives, optimizing our supplier portfolio, improving lead times, and enhancing our competitiveness. Collaborating closely with the category team and key stakeholders across business lines, you'll oversee specific business processes and ensure they align with our organizational goals. You will report to the global category manager.
Your responsibilities
- freight strategy execution: support the implementation of global freight strategies at the regional level, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- supplier relations management: managing relationships with preferred and strategic lsps to optimize service levels, negotiate contracts, and manage performance through kpis and slas.
- category management: implement 5-steps sourcing strategies on regional and local level.
- rfi and rfq management: leading the rfi and rfq processes to ensure competitive and effective procurement of required services.
- cost optimization: identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high service quality, leveraging data analytics and market insights.
- stakeholder collaboration: work closely with key stakeholders, including local logistics managers across business lines to support logistics efficiency.
- process improvement: identify and implement process enhancements to streamline freight operations and improve service reliability.
- risk management: monitor market conditions, geopolitical risks, and supply chain disruptions, proactively implementing mitigation strategies.
- performance reporting: provide regular reports on freight spend, performance metrics, and cost-saving initiatives to the global category manager.
What you bring
- diploma in logistics, supply chain, business or the equivalent knowledge acquired from extensive experience from the procurement of logistics services and category management field
- certified in category management is an advantage
- min. 4 years of experience in similar role
- experience with vision, strategy, planning and execution
- strong understanding of international freight operations
- ability to analyze logistics costs, performance data, and market trends to drive decision-making
- demonstrated ability to engage and motivate teams, with strong project management and leadership skills
- highly experienced in regional procurement and sourcing, with strong commercial and financial understanding
- ability to lead category management initiatives and present recommendations to all levels of leadership
