Role overviewtitle: general ledger (gl) subject matter experttype: full timefunction: financedivision: corporatelocation: (to be filled in by hr)reporting line: gl managerat tenneco we are embarking on a new journey on global business services, willing to expand our capabilities to do the work in a more efficient and effective manner.now we are hiring a general ledger (gl) subject matter expert within the record to report team who will have responsibilities on month end closing, reconciliation, reporting, sap entries, continuous improvements initiatives.this is a great opportunity to join our center of excellence within the global finance shared services.responsibilitiesthis role is crucial to ensure the accuracy of financial records, streamline accounting operations, and support the transition of activities to our shared services.prepare, calculate, and post complex journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.load financial data into onestream, ensuring accuracy and completeness.prepare reconciliations or review and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.perform intracompany reconciliation, analysis and reporting of aged items.identify opportunities for enhancing current processes and implement improvements to optimize accounting operations and enhance financial controls.attend to the transition of accounting activities, ensuring all processes are accurately documented and effectively transferred.check and review the standard operating procedures.ensure all gl accounting practices comply with relevant regulations and internal controls.support and assist both internal and external audits; perform sox self-testing as per requirements.work closely with various departments to resolve accounting issues, provide insights, and support financial decision-making.follow up on projects/initiatives, identify risks and obstacles to meet deadlines, and propose corrective measures.ensure compliance with company policies & procedures.support global finance process record to report function when necessary.participate in projects as per the shared services needs.requirementsbachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.national or international accounting certification is preferred.at least 5 years of experience in gl accounting or relevant finance roles, with a strong background in accounting and reporting; us gaap knowledge is a plus.in-depth understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls, with a strong commitment to maintaining ethical practices and confidentiality.proficiency in using erp systems (e.g., sap) and financial consolidation tools such as onestream.strong excel skills are essential.excellent english skills – written and verbal; any other language will be a plus.strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.flexibility and speed of execution.proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across different departments.excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to different stakeholders.experience in interaction with the business finance teams across enterprise.#j-*-ljbffr
