Job Description
The Director of Operations for Milwaukee Tool will develop and execute the general operational strategy that supports the manufacturing growth, new product roadmap, and overall requirements of the business unit. In close partnership with the cross‑functional teams, this leader will increase operational excellence, improve manufacturing processes, and play an integral role in driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Establish manufacturing strategies, footprints, maintenance & facilities, and operations needed to support business growth and customer requirements effectively and efficiently.
- Identify gaps and work alongside Manufacturing Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing to optimize processes, systems, technologies, and flow through the entire value stream of the operations to drive productivity, reduce costs and lead times and increase quality.
- Identify and establish technical capabilities that achieve productivity and quality expectations of product for existing and future roadmaps.
- Establish, monitor, and report overall operations performance by site.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of the operations and across the organization.
- Collaborate with New Product Development teams to ensure Operations proactively support launches.
- Build and develop a high‑energy, talented operations team. Encourage open employee communication and engagement via development, training, and performance management.
- Ensure close communication and coordination with Cross‑Functional teams across Milwaukee team.
- Be extremely organized and detail‑oriented.
- Possess a high sense of urgency and deliver information in a timely manner.
- Model and drive the Milwaukee culture.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a technical field.
- +10 or more years of progressive management experience in Manufacturing Operations and +5 or more years of direct factory management. Multiple site experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills in an executive setting. Ability to establish rapport and credibility.
- Excellent problem identification and resolution skills.
- Ability to handle fast‑paced and agile culture. Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities.
- Results driven and deadline oriented.
- Experience with international work, factories, and teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of manufacturing and engineering applications and practices.
- Proven experience in training and utilizing Value Stream Mapping and employing other Lean tools to optimize processes and teams.
- Track record of driving improvements and efficiencies.
- Proven track record of strategic short and long‑term planning, Profit and Loss (P/L), and Quality Systems Regulations (QSR).
- Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision‑making skills with the ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives.
- Advanced English.
