About the Role
We’re looking for a Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate reporting, effective internal controls, and operational support for strategic decision-making. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity, driving process improvements, and supporting senior leadership in managing budgets, reports, and compliance.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Financial Controller, you will:
- Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Supervise general accounting, accounts receivable, collections, and payroll functions.
- Provide financial expertise and support to senior leadership to guide business decisions.
- Prepare corporate and departmental margin reports and labor reports.
- Review processes and invoices to identify inaccuracies, assisting managers in financial reporting and analysis.
- Deliver periodic operating reports with analysis of progress toward financial objectives and recommendations for corrective action.
- Support implementation of operational redesign initiatives and development of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee benefits programs and manage tech stack access while ensuring all security requirements are met.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software is an asset.
- Solid understanding of Canadian and US accounting principles and compliance requirements.
Leadership & Oversight
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide continuous feedback to the finance and HR team.
- Guide team members in daily tasks aligned with company culture and values.

- Actively participate in improving company procedures and processes.
- Follow all company procedures, guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Promote a professional and cooperative working environment, based on mutual respect and trust.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or Financial Controller, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance.
- Proven track record in creating reports to facilitate effective decision-making and handling large datasets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
- Ability to quickly grasp technical and business concepts.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure.
- Experience interacting with senior executives, delivering presentations, and resolving conflicts.
