Key account manager (automotive)

responsibilities
* drive financial performance improvement across multiple customer accounts, projects, and programs.
* serve as the primary commercial interface between the company and oem customers.
* lead sales growth, manage customer relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee profitability of specific accounts or product lines.
* develop and execute strategic plans to sustain growth and achieve profitability objectives.
* analyse emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, mergers & acquisitions, competitive threats, viability of outside partners, venture capital sources, internal business performance, and process improvement.
* track and manage all commercial aspects of the account, including pricing, tooling, and piece‑price negotiations.
* develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet revenue goals.
* act as the main point of contact for program management, coordinating among engineering, quality, manufacturing, and the customer.
* manage engineering changes and secure necessary cost adjustments.
* support new program launches to ensure deliverables meet customer timelines.
qualifications
* education: bs/ba required; mba or ms preferred.
* experience: 5‑8 years as an account manager in the automotive industry.
* knowledge & skills: excellent communication skills; proven experience with automotive oem purchasing processes and supply‑chain logistics.
* strong proficiency in ms excel (data analysis) and powerpoint (executive presentations).
* understanding of manufacturing processes such as stamping, casting, molding, etc.
* experience directly with oems preferred.
* fluent written and spoken english.
