The quality officer is positioned in the quality department, reporting to the quality manager.
the role level relates to the position within the organization and scope, ranging from administrative tasks and working according to protocols to being the delegate for the quality manager with significant seniority in specific quality areas. The officer is an expert in quality management and feed/food safety & quality, with good communication and training skills.
key accountabilities
the activities below are performed autonomously or under the close supervision of the quality manager (who is the line manager), depending on the seniority of the position. The quality manager is accountable.
quality management
* ensure the quality management system (procedures and instructions) is up to date, in line with nutrace, relevant legislation, certification norms, and customer demands.
* prepare yearly management review reports.
* maintain incident/crisis contact list.
* monitor the status of the quality plan, recommend actions when lagging, and ensure follow-up.
* provide training and education to employees on food and feed safety practices, including gmps, haccp, and other relevant food safety programs.
* serve as key user for one or more it solutions used to manage quality processes.
* participate in the haccp team.
* depute for the quality manager when necessary.
quality performance
* perform ingredient and supplier assessments, maintaining corresponding documentation.
* conduct self-assessments to identify gaps with nbsf, nutrace, certification schemes, and customer requirements, supporting closure of gaps.
* coordinate internal and external audits, and monitor corrective actions for deviations.
* perform hygiene rounds, work with production on hygiene, qc controls, and 5s practices.
* prepare quality performance reports, analyze results, and advise on follow-up actions.
* support customer, gia, nutrace, and customer audits; follow up on non-conformities and recommendations.
* assist in developing and implementing sampling plans and analytical methods for product and raw material testing.
* lead or support t&t tests and dummy recalls.
* manage administrative tasks during incidents and crises.
* investigate customer complaints and quality issues, working closely with other departments to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* participate in improvement projects.
quality control and analytical services
* define monitoring plans for incoming and manufactured goods, ensuring correct execution.
* support operations in in-process controls, in accordance with organizational guidelines and standards.
* analyze qc and quality data to identify trends and risks, developing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
* ensure timely and quality analytical services.
regulatory affairs and product registrations (if applicable)
* support the maintenance of permits from local authorities.
* assist in developing product registration dossiers, gathering and verifying all necessary information.
* review regulatory changes and implement necessary actions.
* support or lead preparations and inspections from authorities.
