Operations manager – delivery station

we are seeking an operations manager to lead one of our delivery stations.


responsibilities

* managing day-to-day relationships with multiple delivery service providers and suppliers (dsps, flex drivers, etc.)
* driving operational goals and metrics for your delivery station. Communicating the vision to your team
* presenting operational metrics regularly to the senior leadership team
* problem‑solving for closing gaps between performance and goals
* hiring and developing top talent. Creating and implementing a talent plan for the site including talent acquisition, performance and career management, learning and development, succession planning, and employee engagement
* working with key business partners such as transport & sortation, last mile management, finance, loss prevention, it, hr, aces and engineering
* leading the inbound and outbound processes for the building owning end‑to‑end processes


key job responsibilities

the ops manager leads an operation for +70k units. Manages end‑to‑end execution including inbound, outbound and on‑the‑road execution. Leads a team of 4 managers and +50 associates, owning complex problems and making key decisions and escalations on behalf of their team. Fosters a culture of safety. Responsible for protecting service levels and improving driver and associate performance. Assembles the right team, assigns the tracking strategy, and controls the operation to ensure timely and successful execution.


a day in the life

this manager will be responsible for key metrics including, but not limited to: safety metrics, inbound metrics, outbound metrics, on-the-road metrics, under-the-roof metrics and cost metrics including lead‑savings projects.


about the team

responsible for goals in an area where the strategy may not yet be defined. Establishes workflows, slas, and operational excellence mechanisms at the site. Sets the standard for effective delivery station management and is well versed in industry practices and technologies. Has a deep understanding of the business priorities and customer needs, and can proficiently translate those needs into the right solutions. Brings operations perspective to decision making with strong business acumen (understands contribution to the business and partners with finance for cost‑benefit analyses). Broad experience across functional and technical areas, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large‑scale operations.


basic qualifications

* bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of amazon (blue badge/fte) experience
* work an adaptable schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
* 5+ years of operational experience
* 6+ years of people management experience
* 6+ years of general experience
* english and spanish fluency


preferred qualifications

* mba, or master’s degree
* experience with six sigma, lean manufacturing
* 2+ years of directly managing and being responsible for multiple large projects
