overview
under the supervision of the project specialist / cic, this position is responsible to implement the adequate manufacturing processes and the continuous improvement projects aimed to achieve efficiency and productivity, as well as decrease waste and cost. Improve the working conditions using engineering techniques, update the standard times for all activities on the production areas, perform 5s audits and follow up on kos savings. The candidate should display an analytical approach on times studies and movements, detect waste activities, and implement effective actions to reduce them.
responsibilities
* develop activities such as cycle time reduction, worker effort and inventory reduction, floor improvement, to improve work conditions and reduce or eliminate waste.
* monitor activities such as cycle time reduction, worker effort and inventory reduction, floor improvement, to improve work conditions and reduce or eliminate waste, using the 7 waste reduction forms.
* analyze the process to determine adequate work conditions related to space, layouts, lighting, breaks, manpower, tools and equipment.
* support activities to complete time studies; ensure weights (slip, glaze, fired, pack) are updated in both plants to determine the cost of each product.
* support activities during kos events and assist all teams with methodology application.
* maintain standard work studies updated with no more than 1 year old.
* participate in creation, analysis and implementation of projects from value stream mapping (vsm), connection maps, standard work, oee, smed, 5s, kanban, capacity analysis, time and motion studies.
* update layouts in autocad based on required changes.
* maintain the layered process audit updated and standardized.
* follow up to achieve kos savings goals and report savings on a monthly basis, achieving goals and creating a new list for each year.
* provide support to all areas in the plant on structural fabrication to improve productivity, safety and quality (kaizen team).
* comply with the health and safety roles and responsibilities established for this position.
relationships and contacts
supervisory relationships: reports to the project specialist (cic).
organization relationships: medium contact with process engineers and general supervisors; frequent contact with quality, accounting, materials, and corporate staff.
external relationships: n/a.
education, experience and formation
education: preference bachelor degree in engineering.
experience: preference two years of related experience.
formation: preference to understand sap and vis systems, standard cost and bom structure. Bilingual (english & spanish) preferred. Lean tools knowledge.
