We are seeking a highly experienced and motivatedfinancial controller to join our team. This is a critical on-siteleadership role responsible for overseeing all accountingoperations, accounts payable/treasury, internal controls, systemimplementations and regulatory compliance. The financial controlleris an integral part of the overall accounting team (us and mx) andis involved in many cross-departmental and strategic initiatives ofthe company. The ideal candidate will have significant experiencein both u.s. and mexico accounting environments, be fluent inenglish and spanish, and bring a strong background in sap erpsystems and u.s. Gaap. Key responsibilities: - manage theaccounting, treasury/accounts payable and finance projectmanagement teams in san diego and tijuana offices (as well asforeign bookkeepers/cpas), including: accounting - lead theplanning, direction, and coordination of all accounting andreporting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable,accounts receivable, equity accounting, and worldwideconsolidation. - responsible for the month-end and year-end closingprocess, including account/variance analysis and reconciliation. -provide oversight with all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systemsensuring compliance with appropriate gaap standards and regulatoryrequirements. - maintain governance over global accounting policiesand lead efforts in application of technical accounting guidance,including participating in the drafting and/or review of technicalaccounting positions and policy memos. - manage the close calendarfor the consolidation group of companies and theportfolio/affiliated companies. - consolidate monthly financialresults into a comprehensive financial reporting package. - prepareaccurate and timely financial statements and footnotes inaccordance with u.s. Gaap. - manage the u.s. Gaap group audit andstatutory audits ensuring timely completion in addition to ensuringcompliance with all local, state, and federal financial reportingrequirements. - analyze financial data to support strategicdecision-making. Create ad hoc models and reports as required. -assist with annual budget and periodic reforecasts for individualentities and consolidated group. - implement and maintain a strongsystem of internal controls. Responsible for accounting/financepolicy & procedure updates and serve as a key resource fortechnical accounting questions and u.s. Gaap. - responsible for thedetermination and documentation of the treatment for complex ornon-routine transactions, including communication to management ofaccounting implications to the company. - oversee the company kpitracking, peer review and daily/monthly flash reports. Financeproject management - contributor to financial models for strategicinitiatives, cost reduction projects, contract reviews andmargin/product profitability reviews. - leverage digital tools toimprove the cost and efficiency of accounting and reportingprocesses, and that enable the business to scale effectively. -focus on deductibility of mexican invoices and managing vat. -oversee system administration of sap s4 hana and manage theexternal support company handling open tickets and issues. - leadsap erp finance module implementation and optimization initiatives.- other duties include designing and implementing improvements infinancial processes to meet the company's continuous improvementinitiatives. - support tax compliance, due diligence for m&atransactions and transaction implementations if applicable. - workwith internal and external tax experts on transfer pricing,deferred taxes, and other compliance initiatives. Treasury/accountspayable - manage treasury functions, including daily/weeklyinvestments, cash flow forecasting, ap aging optimization, ap payrun lists and timing, foreign currency exchanges, vendor relations.- manage global banking relationships, negotiate terms, andmaintain service level performance. - oversee day-to-day treasuryoperations, including cash management, bank account structures, andtreasury systems. - manage investment of excess cash in alignmentwith risk, return, and liquidity goals. - support company debtfacility and covenant compliance reporting. - supervise credit card(issuance, policy, limits, review of charges and support,deductibility, etc.) programs. - develop treasury policies andprocedures and promote financial best practices across theorganization. Qualifications: - bachelor's degree in accounting,finance, or related field (master's degree preferred). - certifiedpublic accountant (cpa) required. - bilingual fluency in englishand spanish (written and verbal) required. - minimum of 15 years ofprogressive accounting and finance experience, including leadershiproles. - strong technical expertise in u.s. Gaap and relatedreporting requirements (additional expertise in mfrs/nif valuable).- hands-on experience with erp systems is required (sap preferred).- prior big 4 experience or similar strongly preferred. - priorexperience managing teams of 10+ required. - experience working incross-border or multinational environments required. - stronganalytical skills and attention to detail. - excellent leadership,communication, and interpersonal skills. - ability to workeffectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment, juggling multipleprojects and deadlines simultaneously. - expert in microsoft officeproducts (excel, word, powerpoint, etc.) and powerbi a plus. Worklocation: this is a full-time, on-site position based in san diego,ca and/or tijuana, b.c., mexico (traveling between officesexpected). Remote or hybrid work is not available for thisrole.
