*job summary*:
*job responsibilities*:
- administer and maintain microsoft sql server instances (2012 and newer).
- design and manage backup and recovery strategies (backups, restores, disaster recovery).
- optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and server configuration.
- develop stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers in t-sql.
- manage database security (roles, permissions, authentication).
- automate administrative tasks using t-sql, powershell, or equivalent.
- monitor system health and performance using native or third-party tools.
- assist in database migrations and version upgrades.
- collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve db-related issues.
*required skills & certifications*:
- 3+ years of proven experience as a sql server dba.
- strong expertise in t-sql and sql server management studio (ssms).
- experience with high availability configurations (alwayson, failover clustering, log shipping).
- strong understanding of indexing, statistics, and execution plans.
- solid experience in backup and restore strategies.
- skilled in performance monitoring and optimization.
- experience with cloud environments (azure sql, aws rds for sql server).
- familiarity with monitoring tools like redgate, solarwinds, sql sentry, etc.
- experience with ssis/ssrs/ssas is a plus.
- microsoft certifications (e.g., mcsa: sql server, azure database administrator associate).
