operations managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development and operations objectives for one functional area of our sort center (inbound, sortation, outbound) as change ops. Additional responsibilities include managing and leading a team of area managers, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the fulfillment center.
* drives creation of staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other change/six sigma initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the sc to meet and exceed business plan. Sets / clarifies requirements and expectations for area managers.
* measures performance, provides feedback, and holds area managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments.
* leverages the operations and area managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for the functional area.
* takes proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among the network.
* works closely with partner functions (pxt manager, financial manager, facilities manager, lh manager, s&lp manager, and other ops. Managers, it manager) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in his/her area, as well as providing needed support and resources for other staff initiatives.
* able to address operational and personnel issues affecting functional area.
* surface issues with potential to affect multiple functional areas, along with ideas for solutions, to ops, general manager and / or hr.

* lead and supervise a team of area managers and associates in outbound, sort or inbound operations within the sort center.
* responsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of the shift.
* carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
* accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
* strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
* mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning
* ability to develop and share best practices across the shifts and network.

* internal stakeholders - inbound, outbound, ps, sorting, l&d, lp, quality & pxt team.
* customers - last mile for any customer related escalations, central agencies like aces, s&op, cf team.
* this position is expected to have good stakeholder management with the agencies mentioned above, working towards the shared goal of uplifting customer experience.
basic qualifications:
* bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of amazon (blue badge/fte) experience
* work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
* 3+ years of employee and performance management experience
* 2 years of strong operations management proficient in data analysis
* 5+ years operations management experience in manufacturing, production, distribution environment or related industry
* supervisory responsibility for a minimum of 100 hourly employees
* excel skills required.

key job responsibilities
* own and deliver the operational budget for the whole fc, including safety, productivity, financial planning, labor planning, and operational goals
* provide strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, rate forecasting, and peak season planning
* set clear goals and expectations for operations and area managers
* measure performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable

basic qualifications:
* a completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
* english and spanish fluent
* 6+ years of direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment
* 6+ years experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and lean methodologies
* 6+ years experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations
preferred qualifications:
* degree in engineering, operations or related technical field; mba or master’s degree preferred
* ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situation
* interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple buildings across the nation
* prior leadership development training or participation
* track record of effectively leading an operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff of at least 100
* demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization
