Job description:
we are seeking a skilled customs declarations analyst to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for preparing and collecting information for filing i/e declarations across the region. You will collaborate with customs broker procurement teams to commission customs brokers and ensure regional service needs are met.
this position involves supporting the implementation and execution of standard operating procedures (sops) for customs brokers, ensuring consistent and accurate declarations across the region. It is crucial to guarantee that all brokers follow established guidelines and that service quality aligns with organizational expectations.
the customs declarations analyst will review completed customs documents submitted by brokers to verify their accuracy against company data, including hs tariff codes, special programs, free trade agreements, and free trade zone benefits applicable to each transaction. Occasionally, the analyst may receive partially completed documents or data requests requiring additional input, research, or preparation to complete the filing process correctly and promptly.
responsibilities:
* collaborate with compliance teams on the baseline of free trade agreements, special programs, free trade zones, and duty regimes currently in use.
* create a baseline of existing incoterms used in each dtp for correct declaration within customs declaration formats across countries.
* develop a guide for customs declaration procedures for different countries and documents required for filing and clearance.
* analyze new duty optimization opportunities leveraging free trade agreements or import/export programs to improve productivity.
* work closely with the global trade and compliance group to ensure correct declaration of all customs documentation.
* align import and export requirements with smes to ensure all necessary documentation is available at declaration time.
* support sop execution for communication with customs brokers to facilitate smooth import/export operations.
* promote standardization, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing to optimize import/export and trade processes.
* build and maintain relationships across sectors to ensure smooth import/export operations.
* follow up and manage relationships with customs brokers across the region.
* maintain operational files for real-time visibility of operations status.
* provide information for kpis related to import, export, samples filing, and presentation according to deadlines and slas.
* support global communities of practice for import/export, sharing best practices, and advancing automation initiatives.
* gather information for isf filing and management.
required skills and qualifications:
* bachelor's degree or equivalent in international trade, customs management.
* 2-4 years' experience in a similar role.
* ability to influence teams outside direct responsibility and across business units.
* experience working remotely in a team environment.
* technical knowledge to identify opportunities and solve business problems.
* self-motivated with attention to detail and experience leading multiple teams.
* proactive collaboration across multifunctional teams.
* excellent communication skills in english, both written and verbal.
