Edrington also has strategic partnerships for no.3 london dry gin, and wyoming whiskey.
position summary
the managing director for mexico and latam holds ultimate responsibility for strategy implementation and performance of the mexico local operating company as well as the distribution and brand building in central, south, and latin american markets. This territory accounts for 14% of nsv of total americas region and 11% of edrington's americas regional profit with a workforce of 49 people, and it's expected to grow at a significant pace.
strong leadership and the ability to drive high levels of employee engagement, with an experienced team, is required to deliver results in what is a fast-paced and dynamic local environment
as a super-premium branded business, the md role also plays a significant role in ensuring robust brand development strategies are executed to deliver portfolio growth in mexico, particularly in the prestige spirits segment. The goal of this role is to drive exceptional brand building, and therefore grow consumer recruitment at pace, and hence contribution.
the role reports into the regional managing director for americas and is part of the americas leadership team which shapes a wider north and latin american consumer strategy across multiple geographies.
leadership
- visibly lead the regions and ensure all employees are highly motivated to deliver the company vision.
- develop and coach a cross-functional local leadership team, ensuring the edrington leadership standards are fully embraced and high-performance levels are continually maintained.
- build a company culture that stimulates high levels of cross-departmental engagement and collaboration.
- represent edrington among local industry leaders and spirits council associations.
- general legal and administrative duties as required (power of attorneys updated, signing as legal representative for the labor, tax and corporate authorities).
strategy
- work with the americas leadership team to develop a long-term strategy which targets the wider north american and latin americans consumers across the usa, canada, and central and south american geographies.
- execute the mexican consumer strategy at a local level, aligned with the company's global mission to become the world's best at crafting super premium spirits brands.
- devise a 5-year commercial plan and work with the local senior leadership team to oversee its implementation.
results driven
- drive and achieve both the short and long-term commercial targets, principally revenue and contribution, for the mexican and latin american markets.
- ensure commercial results are delivered in line with individual brand strategies
- set companywide kpis to gauge operational performance in all areas.
- grow mexico and latin american uhnwi database into a best practice organization and one of our top global markets for uhnwi revenue stream.
competencies
- pricing management: oversee the implementation and execution of the local pricing strategy, negotiate selling costs and margins, maintain an active awareness of competitive activity.
- p&l management: drive depletions profitability, grow brand value, manage a&p, additional local marketing investments, selling costs, and overheads to deliver the annual profit plan.
- supply chain & compliance: drive the allocation strategy, support exceptional customer service, and ensure industry leading legal compliance across the division.
- establish the retail strategy including owned retail operations and third-party partnerships with shop in shops for the macallan.
brand building
- build a strong consumer and brand-focused culture across the local organisation.
- continually ensure the strive for perfection in the execution of our prestige brand strategies, leading 'best practice' for the global macallan prestige strategy.
- develop brugal 1888 and execute global assets to deliver brugal as the next breakthrough brand in mexico and the americas.
- identify and present the opportunity for the next breakthrough brand for edrington in latin america besides macallan.
- ensure marketing investment is rigorously channelled to deliver brand strategies and growth in brand equity measures.
- continue to ensure growth in brand power with the long-term objective of achieving the leading brand health position in premium spirits in the mexican market.
- support the management of hnwi customer relationships where appropriate.
