Detailed Description of the Project
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to design, standardize, and enable a single, centralized payroll input channel that consolidates all payroll-related inputs across locations, business units, and stakeholders.
Challenges for the Student
Understanding complex, multi‑country payroll processesManaging multiple payroll input sources (emails, spreadsheets, forms, systems)Dealing with inconsistent data formats and validation rulesAligning global standards with local payroll requirementsCoordinating with multiple stakeholders (HR, Payroll, IT, Shared Services)Ensuring data quality while working under strict timelines and deadlinesMain Responsibilities and Activities
Document current‑state (“as‑is”) payroll input processesIdentify all payroll input types (e.g., hires, terminations, changes, time, bonuses, deductions)Map stakeholders involved in input creation, validation, and approvalDefine standardized payroll input categories and naming conventionsEstablish common data fields and mandatory validation rulesSupport the definition of global vs. local payroll inputsSupport requirements gathering for workflow, approvals, and trackingCreate clear process documentation and flow diagramsParticipate in testing of the centralized input processSpecific Requirements / Qualifications
Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge Required
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program (Business, HR, Industrial Engineering, or related fields)Interest in HR operations, payroll, process improvement, or digital transformationAbility to work with structured data (Excel, forms, reports)Strong attention to detail and analytical mindsetAbility to work with confidential and sensitive informationAdditional Skills and Competencies
Process analysis and problem‑solvingData validation and quality checksBasic understanding of HR and payroll concepts (or willingness to learn)Familiarity with process mapping techniques (e.g., flowcharts)Proficiency in Excel and documentation toolsExposure to workflow, ticketing, or dashboard tools (a plus)Ability to learn new systems quicklyProactive attitude and continuous improvement mindset
