overview
this security operations center (soc) role supports f5’s security as a service (saas) offering. You will partner with seasoned engineers to protect customers and detect, mitigate, and resolve security events in real time as part of a global soc team.
what will you do?
* take proactive and reactive steps to mitigate layer 4-7 security threats against f5 clients
* interact directly with f5 clients who are under attack via phone, chat, email and/or ticketing systems
* provide proactive and real-time guidance to customers on network configuration, security protocols, and defensive security response
* document activities in incident management systems, knowledge bases, or ticketing systems as required
* establish yourself as a trusted security advisor internally and externally
* assist f5 clients with onboarding and provisioning
* engage and support cross-functional teams
* investigate new attacks and vulnerabilities
* manage time and customer issues based on issue severity and business needs
* collaborate with product management and development on requirements and product release activities
* identify, define, and implement process and procedure improvements
* ensure documented processes and procedures are current
minimum qualifications
* 0-2 years’ experience in information security or network security
* ability to excel in a dynamic, security-focused operations environment
* ability to quickly learn new and developing technologies
* fluent in english (written and oral) for technical and operational communication
* excellent customer service skills
* strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with analytical thinking and attention to detail
* experience with global routing and networking technologies (gre, bgp, asn routing)
* good understanding of http
* fundamental linux skills
* knowledge of layer 7 ddos attack mitigation
* ability to perform log file analysis
* ability to develop creative, efficient solutions to complex problems
preferred qualifications
* interest in cybersecurity and/or network security; prior noc or soc experience
* b.s./a.s. in information system security or related field
* background in security incident response
* familiarity with a programming or scripting language
* fluency in additional languages
* experience with f5 hardware and software (big-ip, tmos, irules, iapps, icontrol, etc.)
* understanding of common enterprise network technologies

* ability to relay technical information to customers with varying levels of technical competence
* experience supporting corporate customers in production environments
* experience with customer support and service management portals, including provisioning, reporting, and configuration

* detailed protocol analysis using tcpdump, tshark, and wireshark
* packet manipulation and crafting using tools such as hping, scapy, and iptables
* traffic generation and replay using tools such as apachebench and tcpreplay
* strong drive to continually learn and ask questions
* ability to work in a customer-event driven environment
work environment
* duties can be performed in an operations center in guadalajara or remotely within mexico
* requires ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read digital material
* full-time shifts; may include outside core business hours, weekends, and holidays
* may require travel (up to 5%), including possible international travel
