a catering manager is responsible for soliciting and responding to companies and organizations to purchase food and beverage, rent meeting space, and ancillary services from the hotel. They coordinate the prompt, courteous, and efficient delivery of these products to satisfy customer service needs and maximize the hotel's profits.
what will i be doing?
as a catering manager, you will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:
* manage customer relationships through drafting proposals and contracts, responding to inquiries, and organizing arrangements for social and corporate events, including setup and execution. Provide direction and supervision of logistics related to meetings and events.
* represent the hotel by conducting conferences with customers via telephone or in-person to solicit and close group and local catering business. Meet with customers, conduct tours, promote facilities and services, and negotiate contracts and vendor agreements within authorized parameters.
* support senior catering managers and the director of catering in planning and executing large events on-site.
* assist in moving hotel or customer equipment or furnishings as needed to ensure quick turnaround of event spaces.
* assist customers directly, which may involve moving items weighing up to 20 lbs.
* audit customer checks and department charges for accuracy.
* supervise staff in creating and distributing accurate written materials.
* ensure contracts, menus, letters, and reports meet hilton standards and policies.
* re-book functions and follow-up with customers, including sending thank-you notes.
* compile post-event food and beverage reports.
